INTELLECTUAL STANDARDS - PART 1
  1. Clarity
    1. I understand "clarity" to mean a statement that is easy to comprehend, free of ambiguity.  A statement that is universally desirable.  
    2. In other words, when we provide clarity, we are providing clear thinking and clear directions.  The reader can grasp the meaning of the statement without any misunderstanding.
    3. An example of someone exhibiting clarity with social media would be someone making a twitter post on their stance why the Black Lives Matter movement is important.
  2. Accuracy
    1. I understand "accuracy" to mean a statement that is factual without any errors or mistakes. 
    2. In other words, when we speak on an issue, it is recommended to provide accuracy in the details of your statement by citing reputable sources to ensure your statement is not misconstrued.
    3. An example of someone exhibiting accuracy with social media would be if someone was to talk about COVID-19 why it’s important to practice healthy safety precautions, they would provide data from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention as their resource of information and not just their opinion.
  3. Precision
    1. I understand "precision" to mean adding the necessary details to our thoughts or statements.
    2. In other words, precision helps to tie our thoughts and statements together. 
    3. An example of someone exhibiting precision with social media would be someone who posts a statement “Hawaii has seen 15 COVID deaths on 9/17/2021.  The deadliest day of the pandemic in Hawaii to date.”  By providing the precise number of COVID deaths that occurred on that day, the statement is not only accurate and clear but also precise.
  4. Relevance
    1. I understand "relevance" to mean being able to link the meaning of your thought or statement in close relationship to the question at hand.
    2. In other words, when someone posts a question, they provide in-depth details on how it connects to their statement.
    3. An example of someone exhibiting relevance with social media would be someone who posts a tik tok video on how Wanda Vision was able to provide Marvel Studios with their first Emmy win and what that television series did differently than any of their prevision series.
  5. The purpose of the assignment is to help us become better critical thinkers 
  6. The key question at the heart of the assignment is how will you incorporate clarity, accuracy, precision, and relevance in your everyday lives or online?

When creating your brand online, it is essential to establish a home base presence.  This is important because your home base will help you control your narrative.  Having a website or a blog where you maintain your message and where everything you do online connects back to is essential in making sure your brand is showcased positively.  Search engines such as Google, Firefox, and  Safari use search engine count links when people search.  The more searches that go back to your home base, the higher your rank in the search engines.  The best way to create a home base online would be by creating a website with your name. Another essential step in your home base branding has a picture.  Your picture will help your audience connect with your brand.  It can be a picture of yourself (real or cartoon version) or something easily recognizable with your brand (a logo or graphic unique to your brand.).  WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF SPREADING YOUR IDEAS ON SOCIAL MEDIA? The purpose of spreading your ideas with social media is to inspire others and connect with people to create a better community. People share ideas on social media, help spread knowledge and information, or encourage people to develop their ideas. It is also helpful in developing your online identity to understand the type of person and your brand.  CAN YOU NAME & EXPLAIN SOME OF THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF SPREADING YOUR IDEAS WITH SOCIAL MEDIA? Some basic principles of spreading your ideas with social media would be creating content that evokes curiosity, amazement, and surprise.  You have to share content that people will want to research and spread on their social media because they find your content relatable, interesting, or inspiring.   Another principle is not creating friction between sharing and engagement.  Readers will either read your content and be excited to share it or find it too much of a hassle to share it
